As you are surely aware there is a financial crisis gripping our nation and especially the state of California. No where is this budget crisis more severe than in areas of public education where school districts are being forced to cut programs, lay off teachers, close schools, and increase class sizes. Furthermore, for individuals to be successful in today’s ever changing economy a college degree is crucial to securing a job. This fact would suggest that we should be increasing the money invested in public education and our children’s future, not cutting millions to close budget deficits.
