Principal

PS7 students, families, staff and supporters:

Thank you for taking the time to visit our new website and welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We are looking forward to our 9th and best year yet at PS7. We look forward to everyone joining our team to work together and ensure the success of all our students in the classroom and in life beyond PS7.

PS7 opened its doors in the fall of 2003 as a K-4 program. Since that day in August our students have shown tremendous progress in both their academic achievement and in the development of their character as responsible, college-bound, service-minded citizens.

Our success lies in the fact that each member of the PS7 team (students, parents, and school staff) has made an informed choice to be an integral part of our school. Each member of this team has also made a commitment to do whatever it takes to help all PS7 students to develop their academic, character, and leadership skills that will ensure success through college and in life beyond.

At PS7 and in today’s world of public education we stand at a very special point in time. Educational research clearly states that ALL students, regardless of socio-economic status or ethnicity, can achieve when provided with high expectations, rigorous standards, and exceptional teaching. There are NO EXCUSES for students, parents, teachers, staff, and especially school leaders! In addition, there are no shortcuts on the road to high achievement. PS7 students have been providing evidence to support this conclusion with their amazing results and improvement year after year.

We firmly believe that students, parents, educators and community members must work collaboratively as a team to meet this challenge. We must be able to rely on one another regardless of the circumstances in order for our students to achieve our goals. Our relationships will grow stronger as we build trust and learn to value one another’s unique skills and contributions. Ultimately, our efforts will yield outstanding results for students as PS7 has demonstrated with their gains in state-wide measures of achievement making our students some of the highest performing in the state.

These results have led to even greater excitement as we open the 2011-2012 school year. PS7 enters its 5th year with our educational program serving students in grades K-8. Our students in grades 6, 7 and 8 are housed on the Sac High campus. This strategic partnership with Sac High provides consistency for our students and alumni who attend Sac High. This familiarity with college-prep high school expectations is a major factor in student achievement beyond PS7. Parental involvement is also a crucial component in creating and maintaining a learning community that meets the safety and academic needs of all PS7 students.

We  look forward to building on the foundation we have established in our first 8 years and are excited to continue working with you to prepare our students to become lifelong learners and leaders.

Sincerely,

Audria Johnson, Principal, PS7 Elementary( K-5)

Kristen Coates,  Principal, PS7 Middle (6-8)
